As you may be aware, the Exceptional Education (EXED) minor was recently discontinued. We realize there was minimal advanced warning for students who were at JMU prior to this fall that this minor would be ending, and we have recently had some sophomore and junior students ask about it. Because of the timing of the discontinuation, the College of Education has graciously agreed to re-open the minor declaration portal for a very short time to allow eligible students only to declare the minor. Interested students must do so within the timeframe specified below. After this date, no additional students will be allowed to declare this minor. We are asking that you let your students know of this opportunity.
Who is eligible: Students who entered JMU prior to the summer/fall 2022 (i.e. spring 2022 or before) are eligible. Students who entered JMU for summer or fall 2022 (transfer or first year students) are not eligible for this minor.
Deadline for declaration: Interested students must declare the minor through MyMadison by Dec 9, 2022.
Completion deadline: Students must complete the minor by the end of the spring semester 2025.

- If you are completing requirements in December, Application is due in department offices by April 15;
- If you are completing requirements in May, Application is due in department offices by October 15;
- If you are completing requires in August, Application is due in department offices by October 15.
Allow enough time for your major and minor advisors and department heads to sign by deadline.
