If you are completing another licensure area with TESOL (e.g., Elementary Education, Secondary Education, etc.) you will take a graduate level course for student teaching.

MAT students may student teach either Fall or Spring semester of their graduate year at JMU.

Foreign language requirement (12 credits of foreign language or proficiency at the intermediate level).  This must be completed prior to student teaching.

You need to take the PRAXIS ESOL 5362 exam AFTER you have completed your TESOL coursework -- likely Spring semester.

You must have a passing score on the exam to receive your TESOL licensure from the State of Virginia.
