I just received an override into a course but I am unable to enroll in it?

I am taking courses through Outreach and trying to enroll in a course but it tells me that I am over my allowed credits and will not let me enroll.

I was given an override but when I try and enroll I receive the following message "You do not have a valid enrollment appointment at this time". What do I need to do to enroll in the class?

I was issued an override but it is beyond the enrollment deadline. How do I enroll in the course?

I am a current JMU student and received an override into a class but when I tried to register it would not let me take on the 20 credit loan since I was already registered for 19 credits for the semester. What do I need to do to enroll in the course?

I just received an override into a course but I am unable to enroll in it.

If the course was in your cart before the override was issued you will need to remove it and then put the course back in the cart and enroll. This will alleviate any enrollment issues.

You also need to uncheck the "Show Open Classes Only" box on the search screen. You can then select your section and use your override (even if it says waitlisted or closed). Even if you are still on a waitlist once the override has been issued that will not matter anymore

If you are over your allowed credits you will need Outreach permission to enroll in the course. Theresa Jennings in Outreach has to give permission to take the course and then she forwards the approval to the Dean of the College for their approval.

If you are trying to enroll during a Transfer Orientation enrollment is closed to current JMU students. You will need to wait until enrollment opens again for everyone even if you have an override.

The following reasons the Registrar would have to enroll you in a course even with an override: time conflict, swap of courses after the add/drop deadline, or enrollments during the summer for students taking classes outside of their career.

The Department Head of the students' major will need to email registrar@jmu.edu with student name, ID #, semester and exact total number of credits allowed. The Registrar will then activate the student for the additional credits.

All students are set at 17 credits for initial registration appointments. Overloads can only be processed once open enrollment begins. Students will automatically go up to 19 credits once open enrollment begins. If the override still puts you over the 19 credits then your Minor Department Head must approve the overload. The Registrar can enroll the student once they receive the department head approval.
